The 2002 Penn Masters fishing competition final was held in Weymouth. Twelve finalists were split between two boats, Chris Tett's 'Peace & Plenty and Richard English on 'One for his Nob'. It was a very close contest, a species hunt/point system, with the winner, Rolf Marshwick on 252 points and Ian Jones on 249 points....just one poor cod in it! Well done Rolf.
Weymouth Open Competitions 2003 Weymouth Conger Competition (3 day event) 20/21/22 August THIS EVENT WAS WON BY STEVE NASH WITH AN EEL WEIGHING 67Lb SKIPPER RICHARD ENGLISH ON 'ONE FOR HIS NOB' WON THE 'TOP BOAT' 2003 CONGER FESTIVAL AWARD FOR CATCHING OVER 300 EELS DURING THE THREE DAY EVENT
This year, 73 competitors took part in The 2003 (three day) Conger Festival that is becoming an increasingly popular event with anglers all over the country. Over the duration of the event 1,142 eels had been caught returned alive apart from only eleven which had to be brought to the scales to determine the winner. Shields and Prizes were awarded to the top fifteen anglers. First Prize Winner Tim Hoare - Second Prize Winner Duncan McCraken - Third Prize Winner Jeff Robinson. Heaviest conger of each day was won by(1st Day) John Movatt 59lb - (2nd Day ) Steve Nash 69lb - (3rd Day ) Jeff Robinson 66lb
